Who we are
This website belongs to Kate Tooke, a representational oil painter based in Vernon, British Columbia, Canada. Kate is the person responsible for any personal information collected through this site. You can reach her at kate@katetooke.com.
Information you choose to share
The site has no contact forms and no customer accounts. If you email Kate to ask about a painting, a commission or her studio news, she receives the information you include in your email, such as your name, email address and message.
Kate uses that information to reply to you, to discuss a painting or commission you have asked about, and, if you ask to join her studio list, to send you occasional news about new work and exhibitions. You can ask to be removed from the studio list at any time by replying to any message or emailing kate@katetooke.com.
Information collected automatically
Visitor statistics. The site uses Google Analytics to understand how many people visit, which pages they view and how they found the site. Google Analytics uses cookies and collects general information such as your browser, device type, approximate location and the pages you visit. However, Kate uses this only to see what is working on the site. You can learn more in how Google uses information from sites that use its services, or install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Fonts. The site loads its typefaces from Google Fonts, so your browser connects to Google’s servers to display the text.
Security. Like most websites, this site’s security tools and web host record technical information such as IP addresses to protect the site from spam and hacking attempts.
Cookies
Cookies are small files stored in your browser. This site uses Google Analytics cookies to measure visits, as described above. Site administrators who log in also receive WordPress login cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site will still work without them.
Links to other websites
The site links to other websites, such as Kate’s Instagram account. When you follow those links, the other website’s own privacy policy applies.
Sharing your information
Kate uses the information you send by email only for the purposes described above. In addition, the service providers named on this page, such as Google, and the company that hosts the website process the information collected automatically.
How long information is kept
Kate keeps your emails and contact details only as long as she needs them to answer your questions, complete a sale or commission, keep normal business records, or send studio news you have asked for.
Your choices and rights
You can ask to see the personal information Kate holds about you, ask her to correct it, or ask her to delete it, subject to any records she is required to keep. Email kate@katetooke.com and she will respond as soon as she can.
British Columbia’s Personal Information Protection Act covers private businesses in the province. If you have a concern that Kate has not been able to resolve, you can contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, Kate will post the updated version on this page with a new “last updated” date.
