Living on a farm has given me so much more of an appreciation, even reverence for the beauty and miracle of food that I have the honour of witnessing being grown from the earth.

What a honor and a miracle that I can paint what grows from our very own orchard trees. 🙂

I actually made this marmalade solely to paint – I wanted something for the light to shine though and feel luminous… it ended up being a bit more opaque than anticipated, but still made for a lovely subject. 🙂

Snickers was such a sweet stoic guy, sunning himself in the first warm days of spring with the blustery wind blowing like crazy.
This smaller study became a larger painting, though the study was juried into and on dispaly in the North Okanagan Federation of Canadian Artists 2022 show “The Arts of March”.

This was one of 5 young roos born on our farm from a rogue hen that disappeared and retuned with 8 chicks. It’s a heart breaking part of keeping chickens that you can’t keep all the roosters. 🙁
I wanted to honour this sweet, curious guy. He was juried into the 2022 Federation of Candian Artists Show “Small” and will be on display in the Federation Gallery in Granville Island in Vancouver in April 2022.
